Zhichao Wei’s Live — Attack on Titan feat. A Song of Ice and Fire
This time, I’ll be mixing together two global blockbuster IPs that have taken the world by storm in recent years, Attack on Titan and A Song of Ice and Fire. We’ll focus mainly on Attack on Titan, with A Song of Ice and Fire as supporting material. I’ll talk about some of the obvious and less obvious similarities between these two masterpieces, use them to explain my thoughts and feelings about the “big story,” and finally do some wild speculating about where the plot of Attack on Titan might be headed.
This Live will mainly be a rambling conversation built around the following questions:
- What hidden similarities are there between Attack on Titan and A Song of Ice and Fire?
- What are the tricks behind the ways several protagonists in the two works are set up?
- Where does the appeal of big stories like Attack on Titan and A Song of Ice and Fire come from?
- What key information has the recent Attack on Titan serialization revealed? What kind of plot direction can we read from it?
